Satisfactory Academic Progress

Spring/Summer Aid and Your Progress Status

We will begin reviewing winter 2012 grades in May, in order to determine your satisfactory academic progress (SAP) status. Your spring and summer 2012 SAP status will be posted on Pipeline, under the Financial Aid tab. Watch your WSU email for more information.

If you have been DENIED Financial Aid, you MUST FILE A SAP APPEAL if you want us to reconsider your eligibility. This applies even if you disagree with your status or feel you have special circumstances.

Not everyone who files an appeal will be approved. You must demonstrate a clear ability to meet SAP standards.

 Award Notification

Spring/summer award offers may be viewed on WSU Pipeline (pipeline.wayne.edu). The Financial Aid Office will send a message to your WSU email account advising you to review your financial aid information in Pipeline. Financial Aid Officers are available in the Welcome Center lobby if you wish to discuss your eligibility.

Federal Pell Grant

Undergraduates who did not receive a maximum Federal Pell Grant award for the 2011-12 award year may be eligible to receive funds for the spring/summer semester. There is no "extra" Pell Grant for the spring/summer semesters. If you received the maximum in fall and winter terms, then you will have NO remaining elgibility for spring/summer term.

For example, if your Pell Grant for the year is $4,000 and you receive $2,000 in Fall and $1,000 in Winter, then you may be eligible for the remaining $1,000 in Spring/Summer.

 Fall Pell - $2,000 (50%)  Winter Pell - $1,000 (25%)  Spring/Summer - $1,000 (25%)

If your Pell Grant for the year is for $4,000 and you receive $2,000 in Fall and $2,000 in Winter, then you will have no remaining eligibility for Spring/Summer.

 Fall Pell - $2,000 (50%)  Winter Pell - $2,000 (50%)  Spring/Summer - 0

Review enrollment requirements for the Spring/Summer Census Date: July 3, 2012.

Important Reminder: Every student’s eligibility is different. Your actual Spring/Summer Pell Grant may vary depending on your EFC, your remaining Pell Grant eligibility, and your spring/summer enrollment status.
