Enrollment Requirements
You must enroll full-time to be eligible for the maximum award amounts. If you enroll less than full-time, the amount of aid disbursed may be prorated.
You must enroll at least half-time to receive most types of financial aid.
Financial Aid Enrollment Policy & the Census Date
The classes you are enrolled in as of the census date will determine the amount of grant funding you will receive.
| Semester | Census Date |
| Fall 2011 | Wednesday, September 14, 2011 |
| Winter 2012 | Monday, January 23, 2012 |
| Spring/Summer, Spring, Summer | Tuesday, July 3, 2012 |
If you increase your enrollment level after the census date, your grants will not be increased.
If you decrease your enrollment level after the census date, your grants will not be reduced. However, if you drop all courses, we are required to reduce your federal aid based on the percentage of the semester that you have completed.
The Financial Aid Office policy is to lock or "freeze" enrollment hours after the census date each semester. At the time we lock or "freeze" enrollment hours, your financial aid credit hours will not be adjusted up or down unless you completely withdraw. Complete withdrawal may result in a cancellation of all or a portion of your awards.
Repeat Coursework
Federal financial aid will pay for only one repeat of a previously passed course.
If you have previously earned credit in a course with a passing grade (A, B, C, D, etc.)
- You are only eligible to receive financial aid the first time the course is repeated.
- A second repeat is counted even if you received an incomplete grade.
- The only exceptions to this rule are multiple enrollments in certain courses required by your department.
For example, if you are register for 12 credits, and one of your 3 credit courses is a third attempt (after receiving a passing grade in an earlier attempt) your financial aid will be based on 9 credits and you will not be able to receive aid based on full time enrollment.

Enrollment in an Eligible Program of Study
You must be admitted and enrolled in a degree-seeking program to remain eligible for financial aid funds.
Post-bachelor students have specific aid eligibility limitations therefore they must complete an Eligible Program Exceptions Form and submit this along with a Plan of Work completed by their academic advisor to the Office of Student Financial Aid.
Post-master students are not eligible to receive Federal Stafford, Perkins, or Graduate PLUS loan funds. Students with this status may apply for a private/alternative loan or enroll in a tuition payment plan.
