Keeping Your Award

It's important that students know maintaining financial aid eligibility is an ongoing process. Not only must you reapply for financial aid every year, but the OSFA must continually monitor your eligibility for aid. Please review the policies below.

Enrollment Requirements

Students are required to maintain at least half time enrollment to remain eligible for financial aid funds.  There are very few funds available that will disburse with a less than half time enrollment requirement.

Satisfactory Academic Progress

In order to receive financial aid, you must make progress toward your degree as defined by the Office of Student Financial Aid.

Enrolled in an Eligible Program of Study

Students must be admitted and enrolled in a degree-seeking program to remain eligible for financial aid funds.

Post-bachelor students have specific aid eligibility limitations therefore they must complete an Eligible Program Exceptions Form and submit this along with a Plan of Work completed by their academic advisor to the Office of Student Financial Aid.

Post-master students are not eligible to receive Federal Stafford, Perkins, or Graduate PLUS loan funds.  Students with this status may apply for private/alternative loan funding or enroll in a tuition payment plan offered through Wayne State University to cover their educational expenses.

Withdrawing from Classes

Withdrawing from one class or all classes can negatively impact student's ability to retain the financial aid funds awarded and/or disbursed to them.  It can also affect their future financial aid eligibility.
