Financial Aid Refunds
Your financial aid will be credited to your tuition account to pay for your tuition, fees and any residential housing charges. When these charges are paid, the University Student Accounts Receivables Office will refund any remaining aid to you.
This excess aid is for you to use for your books, housing, food, transportation and other miscellaneous costs.
When You Will Receive Your Refund
Financial aid is applied in two payments if the award is for the academic year, half in the fall semester and the other half in the winter semester.
Aid is not paid to your student account until the week prior to the official start of the semester.
Financial aid refunds are released within 14 days of payment. Late financial aid applicants will receive payment after an award is offered and accepted provided other award conditions are completed, such as entrance loan counseling and signing a loan master promissory note.
Refunds are generally generated weekly on Monday and Thursday and mailed on Tuesday and Friday.
You have the right to cancel all or a portion of your student loans and may do so by notifying us in writing within 30 days of payment. Include your full name, student number, and signature.
How You Will Receive Your Refund
You can enroll in the direct deposit program on Pipeline. If you do not sign-up for direct deposit, your check will be mailed to you. To determine if a direct deposit has been made or check has been issued, view your account on Pipeline.
On Pipeline under "Statement and Payment History," a refund check will appear as a "Student A/R Refund."
- Log on to WSU Pipeline
- Click on the Student Tab
- Select "More Student Services" on the bottom left side of the page
- Select "Student Financial Records"
- Select "Statement and Payment History." Under "Unbilled Account Activity," a refund will be listed as "Student A/R Refund." Add a few days for processing whether by paper check or direct deposit. The Student Accounts Receivable Office can help you if you have billing questions.
Refunds checks are not available for pickup.
Direct Deposit
Direct deposit is an option for receiving your financial aid refund. The direct deposit application can be completed online:
1. Log on to WSU Pipeline
2. Click on the Student Tab
3. Select 'Direct Deposit' and fill in the required information. Be sure to CONFIRM your information.
Paper Checks
If you do not choose to participate in direct deposit, your excess financial aid will be released via paper check.
It is very important that you keep your address current as checks are mailed to the most current mailing address in Pipeline. You can change and/or view address information in Pipeline or by contacting WSU Student Records.
